Kenya: Celebrating water in Turkana
Lillian Omari wrote from the Missionary Community of St Paul the Apostle (MCSPA) in Turkana, Kenya, on World Water Day.
Water is life: And it is one of the most needed commodities in our day to day living. Now in this time of the Covid-19 pandemic, water should be available at the entrance of every building, be it an office, house or public space. We need water to wash our hands before doing anything.
In some places in this arid desert region of Kenya many communities are forced to walk for kilometres in search of water for their daily basic needs.
Thanks to a number of projects, building rock catchment dams, shallow wells and boreholes, the MCSPA is helping to make this precious element more available to some of the most impoverished communities.
Today - World Water Day - we would like to thank all those who have supported our efforts at developing water resources for the people we work with in Africa.
The work of the Missionary Community is supported by New Ways, a UK-based charity run entirely by volunteers. If you would like to make a donation to support their projects, please visit: www.justgiving.com/campaign/feedchildrenofturkana
