The Dominicans are celebrating 800 years since the first members of their order arrived in Britain with a Novena, Rosary Processions and a pilgrimage.

On Friday a novena of daily Masses and Rosary processions will begin at the Rosary Shrine, St Dominic's Priory in north London, concluding with a festal Mass on St Dominic's Day on Sunday 8th August. Each Mass will be celebrated by a guest celebrant who will also preach. Guest celebrants include Dominican friars from the priories at Oxford, Cambridge, and Leicester and members of the Priestly Fraternity of St Dominic, who are diocesan priests affiliated with the Order. Every night after the Mass the friars will lead a Rosary Procession around the Church carrying a recently restored statue of St Dominic. Weather permitting the procession will take place outside after the festal Mass on Sunday 8th August.

Pope Francis has granted a plenary indulgence to anybody who "attends a celebration in honour of St Dominic" on his feast day.

On Sunday, 1st August, some Dominicans and friends will be retracing the journey of the original friars who came here, starting at Ramsgate and arriving in Oxford on August 15th. Whether you join them in person, or follow their progress online, this will be a wonderful opportunity to come together in prayer and to share and witness to our faith.
