Dr Gemma Simmonds CJ, will be speaking about 'Catholicism, Prayer and the Spiritual Life' on Tuesday 7 September at Holy Apostles Church, Winchester Street, Pimlico.

Gemma Simmonds is a religious sister of the Congregation of Jesus, a senior lecturer in pastoral theology, specializing in ecclesiology, Catholic education, spirituality and formation for ministry. The director of the Religious Life Institute at the Margaret Beaufort Institute of Theology, Cambridge, she has worked among women and street children in Brazil, as chaplain in Cambridge and London universities and chaplaincy volunteer in Europe's largest women's prison. She is a regular broadcaster for the BBC.

Her most recent book: 'Dancing at the Still Point, Retreat practices for a busy life' - has just been published.

The talk begins at 7.15pm. Admission Free. All welcome.

On Wednesday evening, Patrick van der Vorst will be speaking on 'Catholicism, Beauty and Art' at Holy Apostles. A seminarian at the Beda College in Rome, Patrick is a former director and auctioneer at Southeby's, Dragon's Den entrepreneur, and author of the daily Catholic blog: www.christian.art - (which features on ICN as 'Today's Gospel in Art.')

The talk begins at 7.15pm. Admission Free. All welcome.

Both evenings consist of a 30 minute talk, followed by a Q&A.
