Gospel of 10 April 2022

Book of Lamentations 3: 27-32

It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth. Let him sit alone in silence when he has laid it on him; let him put his mouth in the dust - there may yet be hope; let him give his cheek to the smiter, and be filled with insults. For the Lord will not cast off for ever, but, though he cause grief, he will have compassion, according to the abundance of his steadfast love.

Reflection on the Contemporary Art Photograph
We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you

Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world.

Looking at you, as you fall for a third time, I realise how I, too, should pick up my cross. I don't want to, but I should.

I realise that the cross that you asked me to bear has cast shadows throughout my life. As I walk, nobody can see it except me, and you know there is that shadow side. I can see it projected on the wall.

O my Jesus, help me to let my own cross transform me… and form me.

Give me a brave, energetic and generous disposition to do this. You have gone before me. As Thomas à Kempis said: 'Bear the cross cheerfully and it will carry you!' My Jesus, help me to do this…

Our Father, who art in heaven…

Hail Mary, full of grace…

Glory be to the Father and to the Son…

Normal Gospel reading for today, Palm Sunday: Mark 11: 1-10:

When they were approaching Jerusalem, at Bethphage and Bethany, near theMount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples and said to them, 'Go into the village ahead of you, and immediately as you enter it, you will find tied there a colt that has never been ridden; untie it and bring it. If anyone says to you, "Why are you doing this?" just say this, "The Lord needs it and will send it back here immediately." ' They went away and found a colt tied near a door, outside in the street. As they were untying it, some of the bystanders said to them, 'What are you doing, untying the colt?' They told them what Jesus had said; and they allowed them to take it. Then they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks on it; and he sat on it. Many people spread their cloaks on the
road, and others spread leafy branches that they had cut in the fields.

Then those who went ahead and those who followed were shouting, 'Hosanna!
Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!
Blessed is the coming kingdom of our ancestor David!
Hosanna in the highest heaven!'
