Archbishop William Nolan of Glasgow has spoken out strongly against the UK governments immigration policy. During a visit to Dungavel refugee detention centre on Sunday, the Archbishop said that he was "appalled and scandalised" by their plans to send people to Rwanda.
Archbishop Nolan also tweeted: "The policy of forcibly deporting to Rwanda people who have come to this country in search of safety and security is morally wrong. "It is an offence against human dignity and against all the best traditions of welcome of this country."
In a statement Justice & Peace Scotland said they hope that everyone will now unite in saying 'enough is enough' and demand this policy of forced deportation to Rwanda is scrapped and that all policies designed to create a hostile environment here in the UK for refugees and asylum seekers are ended.
