Day of Many Colours: Celebrating our global Church family
Each year Mission Together, the children's branch of Missio, encourages schools to host a Day of Many Colours. Held on the feast of St Peter and St Paul, this special day of celebration aims to develop in children a missionary spirit of attention towards others, through prayer, charity, and action. It also provides a wonderful opportunity for children to joyfully celebrate their special place within God's Universal Family.
You inspired us!
We know teachers and schools have significant demands on their time and resources. So it's always inspiring for us to see schools across England and Wales continue to support our Day of Many Colours and use to great effect the many classroom resources available on our website.
Many schools posted tweets from their day, sharing news of special Liturgical Prayers, learning activities, fun celebrations, and fundraising efforts.
In Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Primary, Durham, pupils created a giant Mission Rosary on the school hall floor, whilst others gave a rousing rendition of He's Got the Whole World in His Hands, as pupils prayed for their brothers and sisters around the world.
At Sacred Heart Primary, Birmingham, pupils raised a fantastic £180 to buy their own Mission Rosaries so they could pray for children on every continent during their Day of Many Colours.
And in St Paulinus Primary, Cleveland, pupils used our Mission Together Virtual Map to learn about children around the world who also pray and share to help others through Mission Together.
A huge 'thank you'!
We're very grateful to all who support our Day of Many Colours. All the money you raised for Mission Together on this special day and throughout the year goes to Missio's overseas children's projects.
That means your prayers and donations go to the 20,000 plus children we help around the world, offering a safe place to live, nourishing food, opportunities to learn, vital medical care and so much more. And your prayers let them know they're not alone - that there are always people who care about them.
The Day of Many colours is traditionally held on the feast of St Peter and St Paul, but schools can have a celebration whenever suits and can find all our resources to help host a fab and faith filled day on the Mission Together website.
