London: Farm Street Film Club present Michael Collins

Continuing with films on the centenary of the Irish war of independence, at the Tim Hetherington Film Club, Farm Street, on 28 July, 'Michael Collins' (somewhat less gruelling than the last film also on this subject, 'The Wind the Shakes the Barley') is a 1996 biographical period drama written and directed by Neil Jordan and starring Liam Neeson as the eponymous Irish revolutionary, soldier and politician who was a leading early 20th century figure in the sometimes violent Irish struggle to break away from English rule.
In addition to Liam Neeson, the stellar cast includes Alan Rickman, Julia Roberts, Brendan Glesson, Aidan Quin and Stephen Rea.
The film won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival and was also nominated for Best Original score and Best Cinematogrpahy at the 69th Academy Awards.
Michael Collins is in the Arrupe Hall, at Farm Street, 114 Mount St W1K 3AH, at 6.30pm for 7pm on Thursday 28 July 2022.
