Christian Climate Action resists fossil fuels
Christian Climate Action (CCA) is joining a three-day protest in London between 14-16 October to highlight the climate crisis, and also links with the cost of living crisis.
On, Friday CCA members will meet others at noon in Trafalgar Square to join a mass protest demanding that the government act now. It is hoped to hold a service and vigil as part of this action. On the Saturday CCA will join Extinction Rebellion for a programme of talks and music plus putting up posters to inform people about the science of climate change and about Citizens Assemblies. The Sunday will see a march from Hyde Park to Parliament Square, carrying on oak sapling, with the message, "reclaim and re-vision our future".
Some churches are supporting with making sleep accommodation available, likely to be mattresses on the floor of a church.
CCA is the Christian arm of Extinction Rebellion. It takes nonviolent direct action to push for justice in the climate emergency. On 7 October members joined the Quakers to protest outside Vanguard UK HQ, which invests in coal. It is one of the world's largest investors in coal at $86 billion. Then message was: 'If you fund fossil fuels, you are funding climate breakdown.'
