Sr Margaret Taylor

The Franciscan Missionaries of Mary Sisters in Putney write:

With great sadness, we wish to inform you of the unexpected death of Sister Margaret Taylor, who died peacefully on the 20th of December 2022.

Margaret was born August 1940 in Glasgow, one of eight children she entered the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary on 15th September 1958.

After making Final Vows and completing Nursing and Midwifery training Margaret was missioned to Malaysia and Indonesia.

When she returned to the UK Margaret worked as a Health Visitor in Glasgow, Aberdeen and Rhayader in Wales. Her keen interest in formation and of care led her, in time, into the area of Counselling and Psychology.

After completing her course at Santa Clara, USA and registration requirements for the UK, Margaret began her ministry of accompaniment through Counselling and Retreats which included assisting those in formation.

Margaret suddenly became ill three days before she died, her condition then deteriorated rapidly with Invasive Streptococcus A infection. Margaret was a woman of faith with a clear vision of what was needed for 'mature, valiant women working for the reign of God' and we praise and thank God for the gift of Margaret to us and to all those whose lives she touched. May she rest in the love of her Lord.

Her funeral will take place on 30 January 2023 at 12pm - at Our Lady of Pity and St Simon Stock Catholic Church, Hazlewell Road, Putney, SW15 6LU
