Talk: 'Sue Ryder - A Life Lived For Others'
Ognisko Polskie (Polish Hearth Club) in London and The Lady Ryder of Warsaw Memorial Trust are hosting a talk by Joanna Bogle on her new book: 'Sue Ryder - A Life Lived For Others' on Monday, 27th March at 7 for 7.30pm.
Sue Ryder became a household name in the UK during the 1950s due to the homes she founded, and the assistance she provided to the survivors of Nazi concentration camps, the disabled and anyone in need of long-term care, to whom she provided respite in Britain. This work expanded to people living in Britain, funded by various means, including the chain of high street charity shops, which still operate under her name.
Joanna Bogle is an author, historian and lecturer. Her other books include A Book of Feasts and Seasons, which explores the traditional feasts of the Christian year, and biographies of Australian pioneer Caroline Chisholm and World War II heroine Riccarda Hambrough. She broadcasts regularly with Eternal Word Television Network and leads History Walks around London.
Ognisko is at 55 Princes Gate, Exhibition Road, SW7 2PN. Books will be available to purchase and the talk will be followed by a glass of wine and cocktail snacks.
Admission to this event is free, but please reserve a place beforehand on the Ognisko Polskie website
