Justice and Peace Scotland Weekend of Action


Justice and Peace Scotland are hosting a 'Weekend of Action' on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 23, 24 and 25 June.

23rd June 2023 at 6pm Climate Change Talk with Nigerian Theologian Professor Stan Chu Ilo in Eyre Hall at the Glasgow Archdiocese offices in Glasgow as part of the Duff Lectures Series, entitled "Ecological Conversion as Missionary Conversion: A Spirituality of Stewardship for Cosmic Flourishing." Tickets are free but registration is essential. All Welcome, Register HERE to attend.

Saturday 24th June 12 noon. Peace Service at the South Gate at Faslane Naval Base on the Clyde. There will be an outdoor service for Peace, prepared by the Iona Community and following the service those attending are invited to bring a picnic/sandwich as part of our witness to peace. Archbishop Nolan and the Moderator of the Church of Scotland, Sally Foster-Fulton will be supporting this event with their attendance.

Sunday 25th June at 1pm. Dungavel Solidarity Gathering. As part of 'Refugee Week' We will meet at the entrance to Dungavel Immigration Removal Centre, Scotland's only immigration detention centre and shortly before 1pm we will process to the main gate with our banners and placards. Once at the main gate at Dungavel we will gather for a minute's silence followed by some speeches a nd photographs. If you would like to bring something to donate to those inside Dungavel, usually biscuits or sweets, please do so. We are very grateful to Archbishop Nolan for also supporting this event with his presence.
