Call for volunteers to help human rights and environmental defenders + video event
This is not an appeal for money. Many of us are appalled by the state of the world, but we don't simply want to give money: we want to support good causes in other more personal ways that bring us closer to the life Jesus urged us to lead.
Peace Brigades International (PBI) is offering a chance to help local human rights, peace and environmental activists who work in challenging places.
If you speak Spanish, or if you know someone who speaks Spanish and wants to build their CV, getting experience of NGO work, then PBI is offering a unique opportunity. PBI pays the expenses to send volunteers around the world for as long as a year at a time, supporting brave campaigners, making it clear to hostile governments that the eyes of the world are watching them. The presence of a PBI volunteer can ensure that lawyers and activists are not harassed or impeded by the authorities. This is especially valuable in the case of environmental campaigners in Latin America, where PBI has several projects.
