Pax Christi England and Wales have appointed Sr Katrina Alton of the Sisters of St Joseph of Peace as their new National Chaplain.
Sister Katrina Alton is a Sister of St Joseph of Peace. She made her final profession in May 2019. She first became involved with Pax Christi when she joined an Ash Wednesday vigil outside the Ministry of Defence in London in 2009.
Sr Katrina said: "One of the things I have grown to appreciate about Pax Christi is the rhythm of activity through the year. Pax Christi is such an important witness to Gospel nonviolence."
In accepting the role she added: "It is a privilege to be asked to take on the role of National Chaplain. I hope to be able to contribute whatever I can to help us deepen our own personal relationship with the nonviolent Jesus. For me this is the foundation of our call to be peacemakers."
Welcoming Sr Katrina to her role, Joan Sharples, Vice Chair of Pax Christi said: "Sr Katrina brings to her role as Pax Christi chaplain her lived experience of working for peace and her gift for reflection. We look forward to her accompaniment as we discern together the things that make for peace."
The National Chaplain for Pax Christi is a member of the Executive Committee and contributes a theological and spiritual perspective to Pax Christi's work, vision and mission.
Pax Christi's 2024 AGM will take place in Liverpool on Saturday 1st June.
