Westminster Cathedral Choir to perform JS Bach's St John Passion
As part of its Lenten devotions, Westminster Cathedral Choir performs Johann Sebastian Bach's vivid and visceral retelling of the Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ according to St John, sung in German, on Thursday, 14th March.
James Gilchrist returns to Westminster Cathedral as the Evangelist. Recognised as 'the finest Evangelist of his generation', James is one of the UK's leading tenors - a prolific and celebrated recitalist and concert soloist, his extensive repertoire embraces works spanning many centuries.
Fast making a name for himself as one of today's most promising young singers, William Thomas sings Christus. The 2023/24 season sees William make his debuts at Teatro alla Scala, Milan as Hobson in Peter Grimes, and at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden as Colline in La bohème.
These outstanding soloists and our world-famous choir are accompanied by a period orchestra, and directed by Master of Music, Simon Johnson.
