LGBT+ Catholics Westminster celebrate 25 years of Pride witnessing
LGBT+ Catholics Westminster celebrated 25 years since their formation in 1999 by taking part once again in the annual Pride-in-London celebrations on Saturday 29 June. Nearly 50 people from the community took part in the Pride Parade through Central London along with other LGBT+ Christians.
Placards carried messages including: 'God loves YOU just the way YOU ARE,' and 'Jesus loves all His children.'
A stall in Soho Square's Community Market Place was staffed by LGBT+ Catholics - the only faith-based group with a presence there, attracting a number of visitors surprised to see Catholics in evidence.
The stall featured information leaflets and a photographic display of their journey over the past 25 years, including the recent Anniversary Mass held at Farm Street Jesuit Church on 26 May 2024.
The Pride Parade was followed by an Ecumenical Celebration at Bloomsbury Central Baptist Church.
