Three major lectures on liturgical arts, the Syriac Fathers and iconography will take place at Ealing Abbey this month.

The iconographer, Dr James Blackstone of the Chichester Workshop of Liturgical Arts will speak on 'Intoxication and Illumination: Art oriented toward the infinite beauty of God' on Sunday, 7 July at 3pm in the Ealing Abbey parish hall (W5 2DZ). The respondents will be his colleagues at the same workshop: Aidan Hart and Martin Earle. This is the annual St Bede Lecture of the Liturgy Institute at Ealing Abbey. Sebastian Brock, emeritus Reader in Syriac Studies, Oxford, will give a lecture on things Syriac on 'The (re-)discovery of three great Syriac Fathers: St Ephrem of Nisibis, St Jacob of Serugh, and St Isaac of Nineveh' on Saturday, 13 July at 2.30pm at the Benedictine Institute at Ealing Abbey (W5 2DD). The iconographer Aidan Hart of the Chichester Workshop of Liturgical arts will speak on 'Life in Paradise: visual beauty in worship as a microcosm for life in the world' on Sunday, 21 July at 3pm in the Ealing Abbey parish hall (W5 2DZ).
