Join a Climate Pilgrimage

The Season of Creation is being celebrated at the moment with the theme, 'To Hope and Act with Creation.' Over the next few months, Christian Climate Action has been involved in organising pilgrimages around the UK.

LONDON West - Saturday 14 September
Meet at All Saints, Kingston at 10.30am
A walk via Richmond Park, Beverley Brook and Wimbledon Common praying for the environment and good governance.

LONDON East - Saturday 14 September
Meet at Our Lady & St Catherine's Church, Bow at 10am
(or at the Cutty Sark - the circular building at the entrance to the foot tunnel - at 11am)
Ends at the Thames Flood Barrier.

A 'Pilgrimage for the Planet' organised jointly by the Laudato Si' Movement & Christian Climate Action. During the walk along the Thames Path there will be an opportunity to reflect on Creation's Song, Creation's Cry and Creation's Call. Please bring a packed lunch.

BRIGHTON - Sunday 15 September
Meet at St Lukes, 64 Old Shoreham Rd at 12.45pm

OXFORD - Sunday 15 September
Meet at Blackfriars Priory, St Giles, Oxford at 11.30am
Ends at St Frideswide Church, Botley Road, Oxford at about 2pm
A gentle walk, suitable for all ages, including 7 prayer stops, and walking alongside the tow path. Please bring a picnic lunch.

LONDON Saturday 21 September
Meet at Holy Trinity, Barnes from 10am for 10.30am departure
Ends at Teddington Lock at about 3.30pm
A walk along the Thames Path praying for both justice and the environment

BRISTOL - Saturday 21 September
Meet at the northern end of Bristol Bridge - by Castle Park - at 10am.
A contemplative pilgrimage following part of the "Bristol Bridges Walk", prayerfully exploring Bristol's waterways and history

DURHAM - Saturday 21 September
Meet at Framwellgate Bridge at 10.30am
(or meet at Old Elvet Bridge at 12'15pm
Meditative walk along the River Wear ending with a short Season of Creation outdoor service beside Palace Green. Following theme 'To hope and act with creation.'

CARDIFF - Saturday 28 September
Meet at the Stone Circle, Bute Park at 2pm
A short pilgrimage and walk of witness to mark the Season of Creation and to draw attention to the need to tackle the climate crisis.

NEWBURY - October (date to be confirmed)
PILGRIMAGE TO THE NATIONAL TRUST AGM - 29 October to 1 November
Starts near the site of the Sycamore Gap Tree and ends in Newcastle upon Tyne, to allow attendance inside/outside the NT AGM on 2 November (to encourage the National Trust to cease banking with Barclays). 8-10 miles walking each day, following Hadrian's wall on Day 1. Hostel accommodation, and bus ride (to cover some of the distance) planned.
