London: Christian bloc to join national march for peace in Middle East

On the eve of the first anniversary of the start of the catastrophic conflict in the Holy Land - in which thousands of lives have been lost, many more thousands have been injured and millions have lost their homes and livelihoods - peace campaigners of all faiths and none will be marching in London this Saturday. The march, from Russell Square to Whitehall is calling for an end to the onslaught on Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon, and appealing for our government to 'Stop Arming Israel'.

The Christian bloc will be gathering from prayers at St Anselm & St Cecilia's RC church in Kingsway before the march.

Organisers, Christians For Palestine write: "Again we march to demand an immediate ceasefire and full arms embargo . For a whole year this madness has been allowed not only to continue but to escalate, as Israel now visits its genocidal destruction on Lebanon as well as Gaza.

"We are sickened by the failure of the international community to hold Israel to account and we demand that our government complies with international law by ending its arms contracts with Israel and supporting the recent UN resolution to impose sanctions until there is a full ceasefire and an end to occupation and apartheid.

"We mourn every life lost, every home destroyed, every dream crushed by violence, and we pray for peace and for the will to act for justice"
