Happy Birthday Radio Maria!

Radio Maria celebrate their fifth birthday next week with several special events.

Fr Toby Lees writes: "As Priest Director of Radio Maria England I'm thrilled to celebrate with you five years of our radio being a 'Christian voice by your side'.

For the past five years, we have proclaimed the gospel in cars, homes, workplaces and anywhere else you might imagine. Just the other week we received a letter from a grateful prisoner explaining how the Radio had given structure to his life and a chance to give witness to his faith to his fellow inmates.

"That's why Radio Maria matters. Through our broadcasts of the Liturgy, prayers and faithful speakers, we bring comfort to the lonely, hope to the despairing, truth to those seeking faith and nourishment for those wishing to drink from deeper streams than the shallow waters of secular culture. We will always be free at the point of listening and with no adverts . . . but keeping the station running is costly! So, we rely on the support of those who already value what we do, YOU, our lovely listeners!

"From 7th-9th October, we'll have our on-air Mariathon fundraiser, aiming to raise £30,000 to ensure that we can carry on into a sixth year of broadcasting, and then, please God, many more. Here's what is planned:

Day 1: On the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, we'll explore Marian dogmas, shrines and devotions.
Day 2: Hear life-changing testimonies and meet our frequent guests and partners.
Day 3: On the Feast of St John Henry Newman look for signs of his 'Second Spring' as we celebrate some of our glorious past and look at some of the glories of the present.

We'll also host in-person events in London and Cambridge - full details on the website - I'd love to see you there.

I'm also delighted to let you know that through the generosity of some of our benefactors, we have received matched funding up to £12,000. This means that every donation you make will be doubled, up to the first £12,000. So please tune in, join us, and prayerfully consider what you can give to support our mission. Monday 7th October 7pm
London: Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary
At The Rosary Shrine, St Dominic's Priory, London. The evening begins with Mass at 6pm, followed by the Rosary at 7pm and ends with a Celebratory Concert by anMari at 8pm in the Parish Hall.

Tickets for the concert, which include a buffet, are available for a suggested donation of £15.

Cambridge: Five Year Birthday Celebration
Tickets for the celebration - a buffet and Ceilidh Dance - are available for a suggested donation of £20. Student rate is a suggested donation of £10. Children aged 13 and under, are free but must be accompanied by an adult.
