World Mission Sunday

The Pontifical Mission Societies have released a video to showcase the faces and voices of missionaries working in all corners of the globe.

The theme for this year's World Mission Day comes from the Gospel parable of the wedding banquet (Matthew 22:1-14). In the story, the king invites guests to a wedding feast, but many refuse to come. So, the king tells his servants, "Go to the streets and invite anyone you find" (v. 9).

This message shows us important lessons about evangelization. It reminds us to reach out to everyone with the Good News of Jesus, especially during this important time for the Church. As missionary disciples, we are called to focus on sharing the Gospel with the world. This fits with the Church's current journey, emphasising communion, participation, and mission. The primary task of the Church is to preach the Gospel in today's world.
