East London school raises over £6,500 in Christmas charity fundraisers

Students and staff at St Bonaventure's School in Forest Gate, East London have rallied together raising over £6,500 to support several charities and make a positive impact in their community. Over the past few days, the school has taken part in a variety of events to contribute to important causes.

The main event was the annual sponsored walk, where students from all year groups and teachers walked the perimeter of West Ham Park. All the donations from this event will go to Brentwood Catholic Children's Society (BCCS), CAFOD, the Mizen Foundation and the NEWway Project supporting the homeless in Newham.

In addition to the sponsored walk, St Bonaventure's hosted their 'Jumpers for Jimmy' event, a day dedicated to raising awareness and funds for The Mizen Foundation. This charity works to empower young people across the UK to be peace-makers and agents of positive change in their communities. Students and staff donned festive jumpers to show their support, with all proceeds going directly to the foundation.

Other fundraising events in school included the sale of decorations made by the ceramics club, staff raffle and auction, and collections at Advent service and 6th form talent show.

Finally, St Bonaventure's students also contributed to the local homeless community through their first delivery of supplies to the NEWway homeless shelter. The donations, which included essential items and festive gifts, brought smiles to many faces and reinforced the school's commitment to making a difference close to home.

St Bonaventure's is not only a school where students can shine academically but also a place for personal development and compassion, where students learn to become good citizens and give back to their families and local community.

St Bonaventure's is a voluntary-aided Catholic Secondary School in Forest Gate for boys aged 11-16 and for boys and girls aged 16-18 in the Sixth Form. For more information visit: www.stbons.org/
