Christians to join latest National March for Palestine
Christians For Palestine will be meeting for prayers on Saturday, 18 January, at 12noon, in Bloomsbury Central Baptist Church, WC2H 8EP, before joining the National March at the north end of Whitehall / Trafalgar Square.
The organisers write:
Dear friends and supporters, It's been over a year since we started marching together as a Christian bloc at the national ceasefire marches. In that year, we have joined together every few weeks to show our solidarity with the people of Palestine, to demand a ceasefire in Gaza and to call on the UK government to stop sending arms to Israel to support this wicked genocide.
Although it can feel like we are making little difference we know that our presence on the streets gives hope to many who feel as if the whole world is ignoring their plight. And we know from the constant efforts of our national government and the police to shut down our protests that it does have an impact.
Each time we meet together to pray, and then to march alongside Jewish and Muslim protesters and people of all faiths and none, we create a spark of hope and we build community. We all lead busy lives but we do this together - when one can't, another can - so, if you are free this weekend - please do come.
Join us this Saturday (18th) at Bloomsbury Central Baptist Church, 12 noon.
The Metropolitan police have been going overboard this time to derail the march. Christians for Palestine, (and ICN) were among many signatories to a letter condemning police attempts to stop the agreed march for Palestine from assembling at the BBC. The route for the march was confirmed with the Police nearly two months ago and as agreed with them, was publicly announced on 30 November.
PSC has now confirmed that the route will be reversed - from Whitehall to the BBC.
We will meet for prayers at 12noon, at Bloomsbury Central Baptist Church, WC2H 8EP, and then walk down to join the march at the north end of Whitehall / Trafalgar Square.
Please help make this march - the first of 2025 - a big one - the world needs to see that we care, and that attempts to silence us will have the reverse effect!
