ATCRE National RE Conference 2025

The Association of Teachers of Catholic Religious Education (ATCRE) are holding their annual National Conference on Saturday 1st March at St Thomas Aquinas Catholic School & 6th Form, Kings Norton, Birmingham B38 8AP.

This will be the sixth National Conference held by ATCRE. The theme for this year's conference is 'Scripture at the heart'. Keynote speakers are Prof Bob Bowie and Brenden Thompson.

Prof Bob Bowie is Professor of Religion and Worldviews Education at Canterbury Christ Church university. He is the Director of NICER, a University Research Centre focused in Christianity and education. Bob has taught RE in Catholic schools and is the author of the best selling textbook 'Ethical Studies'.

Brenden Thompson is the UK Programme Director for Word on Fire, Lead coordinator of Catholic Voices, and a Trustee of the Bible Society. Brenden studied Theology and Religious Studies at St Mary's, Twickenham before going on to do a Masters in Applied Theology at Oxford University and is a Teaching Fellow of the Word on Fire Institute.

A number of seminars will be delivered by RE teachers and experts in their field covering the Old Testament in the Gospels, Women in Scripture, Salvation History and the Power of the Gospels.

The conference will bring together a range of people involved in all areas of Catholic Religious Education with an opportunity to network and engage with over 20 exhibitors.
