Christian Aid warns against Trump's reckless withdrawal from Paris Agreement

Responding to President Donald Trump outlining plans to withdraw the US from the Paris Agreement, Christian Aid's Head of Global Advocacy, Graham Gordon, said: "The climate crisis is the world's biggest geopolitical threat, already destroying lives and livelihoods around the globe. Trump withdrawing the US from the Paris Agreement is reckless.

"The question now is how the rest of the international community responds. The world has made progress in recent years, cutting emissions, rolling out renewables and highlighting the harm that fossil fuels are causing.

"Last time Trump withdrew the US from the Paris Agreement, other countries, states, cities, businesses and civil society organisations stepped up to ensure this momentum continued. We need to see that clear-sighted leadership once again."
