Douay Martyrs Catholic Secondary School in Ickenham, northwest London, proudly welcomed more than 300 attendees from parents, staff, and visitors to its massive production of Bugsy Malone: The Musical - putting the school hall at full capacity on its final night.

Students devoted over five months to rehearsals, attending twice-weekly sessions and dedicating four additional Saturdays in the lead-up to opening night. The school community is very proud of the students' commitment, discipline, and exceptional talent.

Matt Rogers, Head of the Performing Arts Faculty, commented: "Mrs Cobham and Mrs Arnold worked tirelessly with our young cast to not only deliver an incredible performance across all three nights but also to give Mrs Arnold a wonderful send-off as she moves on to pastures new. The hard work during weekend and after-school practices paid off, with the final show concluding to rapturous applause from the sell-out crowd. Well done to our students for the courage and confidence they have developed throughout this journey. We are incredibly proud of you!"

This year's production was very special and raised the bar with an ambitious multi-levelled stage, lasers, a smoke machine, and even a working pedal car complete with lights and a horn-reminiscent of the iconic vehicles from the classic 1976 film. To end on a high note, confetti cannons were fired during the grand finale, thrilling the audience and leaving a lasting impression.

The production also marked a milestone in the school's history by featuring a live band for the first time, which included three staff members and a talented Year 9 student on violin.

The young cast was led by Daniel, a Year 11 student playing Bugsy Malone, and Róisín, a Year 10 student taking on the role of Blousey Brown. Most of the cast comprised students from Years 7 to 10, making their achievement even more remarkable. The Douay Martyrs Catholic Secondary School continues to set a benchmark for excellence among secondary schools in the Hillingdon borough.

'The Douay Way' shapes every aspect of school life, where students and staff work towards a common goal - to better themselves and become excellent citizens, in a progressive learning environment combining traditional values with the latest technology and learning techniques.
