London: Celebrating the Feast of Saint Brigid
Once again, the Irish Chaplaincy is delighted to be working with the team at St Bride's Church in Fleet Street to celebrate the feast of St Brigid. Brigid is the matron saint of St Bride's Church and of the Irish Chaplaincy as well co-patron saint of Ireland, with St Patrick.
The service will be held in the beautiful Crypt Chapel at St Bride's at noon on Saturday 1 February. (arrive early, the service will start with a commitment to Peace at 12 noon)
St Brigid and the abbesses who succeeded her at Kildare were renowned as peacemakers in early Ireland. By taking a moment to pause for peace on St Brigid's day the intention is to send out a message opposing warfare and the proliferation of arms. The Global Pause for Peace Movement was launched at Solas Bhríde in Kildare, Ireland, in January 2023.
The service will be led by The Revd Canon Dr Alison Joyce, Rector of St Bride's, with friends from the Irish Chaplaincy in London taking part.
