Divine Encounters - Indigenous meets baroque

The Hispanic early music ensemble, El Parnaso Hyspano, will be performing music for voices and instruments from Latin America at St Mary Moorfields Church, Wednesday, 26th February 2025 at 7pm. (By kind permission of Fr Chris Vipers, Parish Priest.)
Most of this music was written on the Jesuit missions, some pieces by anonymous Indigenous composers, and some in the vernacular indigenous languages, rather than Spanish or Latin. The programme includes a sacred opera (more an oratorio) 'San Francisco Xavier' - its first performance in the UK. This music is unlike much other European music of the period in the use of Andean percussion, which gives it a uniquely dance-like flavour.
This one hour concert will followed by a wine reception.
Tickets £15 in advance from EVENTBRITE, or £20 at the door.
