Pax Christi is organising three Ash Wednesday (5 March) events this year in Leeds, Liverpool and London.
Leeds: there will be an Ash Wednesday Service at 12.30pm Holy Trinity Church on Boar Lane (just two minutes walk from Leeds train station). There will be prayers for all those involved in nuclear war preparations to repent and have a change of heart and for the courage to carry on with our opposition.
Liverpool: meet at 1.15pm for a 1.30pm. start at St Luke's Bombed Out Church at the top of Bold St. There will be a walk to the Law Courts in Derby Square, stopping at various 'stations' for prayers of repentance for the sin of nuclear weapons and for peace. In Church St an image of Trident will be marked with ashes as will each other with ashes. The walk will end at Liverpool Town Hall, to continue to petition Liverpool City Council to support the Treaty for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons .
London: meet at 3.30pm outside the Ministry of Defence on the green on the west side of Horseguards Avenue (river side) for a vigil of repentance and of prayer for peace and an end to war.
