On Sunday morning the Holy See Press Office reported that Pope Francis had a peaceful night and was continuing to rest. He later had breakfast, coffee, read the newspapers and attended Mass.
Speaking to journalists just after 12pm, the Director of the Holy See Press Office, Matteo Bruni, confirmed that the Pope received Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin and the Substitute for General Affairs of the Secretariat of State, Archbishop Edgar Peña Parra, who came for a visit.
On Sunday evening the Pope's condition remains stable.
The Holy See Press Office said: "The Pope has not required non-invasive mechanical ventilation, but only supplemental high-flow oxygenation. He does not have a fever. Given the complexity of the clinical picture, the prognosis remains guarded."
Pilgrims have gathered in St Peter's Square and outside the Gemelli Hospital to pray for Pope Francis' complete recovery. Many pilgrims, especially children have left letters, get well cards and pictures.
