Wintershall theatre company is once again set bring the Passion of Jesus to life with two performances of their play in Trafalgar Square, London, on Good Friday, 18 April, 2025.

The dramatic retelling of the Triduum - from Holy Thursday through to Easter Sunday will feature a large, talented cast of actors, live animals, and stunning period costumes, all set against the backdrop of one of the world's most famous landmarks.

The Muslim Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan said: "I am proud that Wintershall is back again to turn Trafalgar Square into an open-air theatre to tell the powerful story of Jesus' final days and resurrection. The Passion of Jesus has become a key part of how our capital marks Easter, bringing people of different backgrounds together to remember the Easter story, and its important messages of kindness, love and hope."

Wintershall's 'Passion of Jesus' in Trafalgar Square has become a significant part of London's cultural and spiritual life. Each year, the performance draws large crowds, from families and tourists to long-time supporters.

Wintershall producer, Charlotte de Klee said: "We are happy to be bringing the story of Jesus back to the city this year. This play belongs to London and speaks not only to those of the Christian faith, but to all faiths and traditions and those who have none. Over the years the vast audiences the play has attracted stands as testimony to that. As it takes place in the world-famous space at the heart of the capital it demonstrates the tolerance and diversity found in London."

The event will include a series of scenes, including the Last Supper, Jesus' trial before Pilate, His journey through the streets of Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, the Crucifixion, and the Resurrection. The cast will be complemented by a moving musical score, bringing an added layer of emotional depth to the presentation.

Wintershall's 'Passion of Jesus' offers a unique opportunity for reflection during Holy Week, allowing attendees to consider the enduring message of Christ's sacrifice and the hope it brings to people of all faiths. The performance is an expression of Wintershall's mission to share the story of Jesus' life and teachings in a way that is accessible, compelling, and impactful.
