Catholics in Fundraising has called on Catholic charities to participate in the government's 'Consultation on financial thresholds in charity law' to ensure a well-regulated sector that maintains public trust while minimizing administrative burdens on smaller charities.
Catholics in Fundraising, says this initiative has the potential to help small charities reduce their administrative burden by allowing them to focus on their core missions.
Catholics in Fundraising is supporting the recommendation to increasing the income threshold for mandatory annual returns from £10,000 to £20,000.
"We believe that a well-regulated sector means the public continues to trust that their donations to charities are being used effectively for the benefit of the public," said John Green of Catholics in Fundraising. "By engaging in this consultation, Catholic charities can help shape a regulatory environment that supports their work and minimizes unnecessary administrative burdens."
This consultation applies to the law of England and Wales, as charity law is devolved in Northern Ireland and Scotland. The consultation can be found here: www.gov.uk/government/consultations/consultation-on-financial-thresholds-in-charity-law/consultation-on-financial-thresholds-in-charity-law
