God's Love Will Triumph

A special Holy Week episode of the All Kinds of Catholic podcast will be released on Wednesday. The guest, Jim, has wide-ranging interests and expertise. Podcast host Theresa Alessandro explained, 'The Holy Week and Easter liturgies are so full of emotion that I thought it would be an interesting contrast to talk to a scientist about how they experience this time in the church's year.' When asked about the relationship between faith and science, Jim says, 'I don't see any contradiction between my science and my faith… In fact, quite the opposite. One has driven the other.'
The dialogue is made richer because Jim is highly qualified in psychology and theology too - and he has taken his personal faith seriously since childhood. During the conversation, Jim and Theresa both admit to having found the desolation of Good Friday especially difficult at times 'when life is already hard.' Drawing on his different areas of learning and his emotional connection to the liturgy, Jim reflects on how he understands the resurrection - 'God's love will triumph...It's one of the hinges [of my faith].''
The podcast episode might be helpful if you are looking for something to reflect on during Holy Week. About the podcast
The All Kinds of Catholic podcast is created and hosted by Theresa Alessandro. In each episode, Theresa is in conversation with a different Catholic guest exploring how they live their faith in the world today. Guests will often be people who are not in the public eye. Taken together, their stories illustrate the image Pope Francis uses in Evangelii Gaudium, of a 'chaotic…genuine experience of fraternity, a caravan of solidarity, a sacred pilgrimage' experienced by Catholic people 'stepping into this floodtide' of life.
This is the beginning of a new venture for Theresa and she is discerning the steps a few at a time. She would be happy to chat further about the podcast and more.
