Dr Swee Ang
Catholic Doctor Swee Ang has had a long career as an orthopaedic surgeon, and in defending Palestinian rights, ever since she witnessed the effects of the massacres in the Sabra and Shatilla refugee camps in Lebanon in 1982. She went on to found Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP), with her husband.
She was due to give a talk recently to medical students on her work in the Holy Land, when suddenly the British Medical Association stepped in and cancelled her invitation. They said Dr Swee was 'anti-Semitic' - an accusation she firmly denies.
Colleagues and supporters have now written a letter asking for Dr Swee's invitation to be reinstated.
