CAFOD unhappy with G8 decision on climate change
In response to Chancellor Merkel's announcement on climate change last night, CAFOD head of policy George Gelber said: "This puts us at the lowest end of what is needed to curb climate change. The G8 leaders say they are going to consider "substantial cuts" maybe in the region of fifty percent, but in our view that's not sufficient. "They've not mentioned the key target of limiting the increase in average temperature to two percent and we believe - based on our interpretation of the science - that reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 50 percent by the year 2050 is not enough."
