Uganda: Polish missionary shot in ambush
Source: MISNA
A Polish missionary was injured yesterday morning during an ambush carried out by the rebels of the 'Lord's Resistance Army' in northern Uganda.
Father Boguslaw Zero, 30, of the Missionaries of Africa, (White Fathers) was returning to his parish church in Acumet after having spent the night in the diocesan seminary sheltering from the rebels. At around 6.30am local time, his vehicle was hit by a spray of bullets.
"Fr Zero suffered hand injuries, but is out of danger", a spokesperson for Soroti diocese told the Missionary News Service.
The rebels penetrated into the Soroti diocesan territory three days ago. They have been plundering the area around Obalanga, 10km north of Acumet. The rebels are lead by Joseph Kony, described as a 'visionary' who is backed by the Sudanese government. Fr Zero did part of his training in Mill Hill, London before his ordination in 1999.
